Active Updates specialise in providing training in-house, but all courses are available, if required, in purpose-built facilities in Guildford, Surrey. In addition to providing updates on good practice, courses are tailored to the working needs of participants so that content is relevant to the actual environment in which the student works. In addition, we are able to offer courses in INFECTION CONTROL and ADULT PROTECTION on request.
MOVING & HANDLING
This three-hour update course covers patient handling and inaminate load handling. At the end of the course, participants will
n
Be updated on national and local developments in patient handling
n
Have an enhanced awareness of biomechanics and how to develop strategies to reduce musculo-skeletal injuries
n
Be aware of the importance of using risk assessment and appropriate documentation
n
Have refreshed their skills in moving & handling, and the selection of appropriate techniques and equipment.
All participants receive a Certificate of Attendance.
ADULT BASIC LIFE SUPPORT
A three-hour course to update and refresh participants on basic life support techniques for adults. At the end of the course, participants will
n
Be able to recognise the priorities of life - airway, breathing and circulation
n
Be able to identify the differences between primary and secondary clinical status in a patient
n
Be able to perform cardio-pulmonary resuscitation to a satisfactory standard
n
Have an awareness of how to eliminate complications related to sustaining life in life-threatening situations
n
Be able to identify and treat basic first-aid situations
All participants receive a Certificate of Attendance.
